 | keep calm; |
 | raise an alarm by shouting "FIRE" and
actuate the nearest fire alarm; |
 | call the Fire Services Department at once by dialling
"999"; |
 | if it is "SAFE' to do so, try to tackle the fire
using available fire fighting equipment; |
 | take the staircase to go down to the street if fire
occurs above your premises; |
 | take the staircase (if it is leading to roof) to go
up to the roof or the refuge floor of the building if the fire occurs below your premises;

 | if the staircase is not leading to the roof, take the
staircase which is smoke-free and go down to the street; |
 | if the common corridors or staircases are found
smoke-logged, do not attempt to escape through the staircases. Return to your unit, close
the door and use a piece of wet cloth to seal up the bottom of the door to keep out smoke.
Inform the Fire Services Department of your location through telephone and await the
arrival of firemen; |
 | inform the Fire Services personnel if somebody is
found missing; |
 | if your unit is on fire, remember to close the unit
door before you evacuate from your unit so as to prevent fire and smoke from spreading to
other parts of the building. |
